Xiaomi has started rolling out this RAM expansion feature. This feature is available for those who have installed MIUI 12.5 or MIUI 13 Update on their Android device.
It is important to note that Xiaomi phones work well with the amount of RAM they have, and most users will not experience any performance issues with the amount of RAM built into the device. What is Memory Extension on Xiaomi
Memory expansion usually means increasing the amount of Random Access Memory (RAM) available on a computer or smartphone. RAM is a type of memory that allows a device to quickly access and store data while in use, allowing the device to run multiple programs and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. More RAM means that the device can handle more tasks simultaneously and as a result, it offers better overall performance.
Through this function, you can increase the RAM capacity of the smartphone from 3 to 5 GB. For example, you can increase the RAM of your 4GB RAM devices to 6 GB or more. As a result, it increases the speed of your phone during multitasking. Earlier the limit of RAM which can be increased through the memory extension feature was 1 GB, but now it has been increased to 3 to 5 GB.
How to Enable Memory Extension on Xiaomi Phones
- Open the Settings app on your Xiaomi phone
- Scroll down and click on Additional Settings
- Tap on Memory Extensions
- Now, turn on the toggle next to it to enable the memory extension option on your phone
