1. Open the Photos App
On your iPhone, open the Photos app and choose Albums from the Album menu.
2. Find the Duplicate option from Utility Section
At the bottom of the list, you’ll find a utility menu. There is a new option “Duplicates” in the list of imported, hidden, and recently deleted media.
You can access the brand-new duplicate utility by tapping the Duplicates icon.
3. Choose the duplicate photos you want to remove or merge
Using this feature, you can find all the duplicate photos and videos on your iPhone and in your iCloud library. In order to ensure that no metadata is lost, Apple decided to merge the two, rather than delete one and keep the other.
In this way, you will be able to store metadata such as the date and location, as well as the phone used – something most third-party solutions are not able to do.
If you tap the Merge button, you can merge duplicates one at a time, but we recommend batch merging whenever possible. Selecting All from the top-right menu will enable you to do this.
4. Merge your Duplicate Photos and Vidoes
You can merge photos and videos by tapping the Merge button at the bottom of the screen, and then selecting Merge on the confirmation pop-up.
