In recent years, most tech brands like Apple, Google, and Samsung have started supporting eSIM (Embedded Subscriber Identity Module) on their latest smartphones. eSIM is an industry-standard digital SIM that allows you to use carrier networks and plans without inserting a physical SIM.
In this guide, I will show you how to check if eSIM is activated on your iPhone. Also, keep in mind that this SIM is more secure than the traditional physical SIM and is best for people who travel internationally. eSIM is easy to set up and faster to use.
Note: You can install eight or more eSIMs on your iPhone and only use 2 SIMs at a time.
Basic Requirements for eSIM
If you are using eSIM on your iPhone, then you must fulfill the following basic criteria:
- Must be iPhone XS or a newer model
- Service providers that support eSIM
- iPhone 14 and newer models must be connected to Wi-Fi to activate eSIM on this iPhone
Note: eSIM on iPhone is not offered in mainland China.
How to Check if eSIM is Activated on iPhone
If your iPhone model is compatible with eSIM, follow the steps below to check if eSIM is activated:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on Cellular.
- Now, choose your SIM from Primary or Secondary.
- Scroll down and check the “Delete eSIM” option. If this button is present, that means the eSIM is activated on your iPhone. Otherwise, eSIM is not activated.
Activate eSIM on Your iPhone…
That’s it! I hope now you are able to check if eSIM on your iPhone is activated or not. If not, you can tap on Add eSIM and then add it. If you travel internationally, then use one local SIM as a physical SIM and another one as an international eSIM. In my opinion, this is the best approach.
